About the Founder

Megan Fitzgerald is an expat career and entrepreneur coach and the founder of Career By Choice. She helps fellow expats use their unique value or personal brand to build a career or business that 'fits' who they are and their international lifestyle.

It is the combination of her passion for helping others to do what they love while living where they want, her extensive global experience and training, and her strategic, entrepreneurial approach that helps her clients find more freedom and success in their professional lives. Curious, creative and committed to excellence, Megan's strengths lie in her ability to quickly identify needs, strategically explore possibilities, and empower others to make choices that work for them.
 
Much like herself, Megan's clients are expats passionate about building a more fulfilling professional life to support their life abroad. They are energized by the idea that the key to their success is effectively communicating their unique strengths and value in a compelling way both on- and off-line. Lovers of learning, they enjoy learning and applying new strategies and technology to successfully grow their careers or businesses in today’s global marketplace.

With over 15 years of experience in career and business development, Megan has worked with such professionals and entrepreneurs from across the globe.  She has developed career and business development programs for people from Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Latin America and the Middle East. Her passion for travel, culture and service has taken her to over 25 countries on 5 continents to live, work or play.

Always in search of new, innovative strategies to help her clients succeed, Megan is constantly learning and working to hone her craft. Her credentials include:

It is her expertise in personal branding, career marketing materials and strategic career and business development which has led to her being selected to present to global audiences such as the Women Who Tech Telesummit. She has being featured in several expatriate publications, including Career-In-Your-Suitcase and Italy Magazine. 

As Megan believes that developing your professional network on- and off-line is essential for the global professional, she enjoys connecting with colleagues, peers and collaborators from San Francisco to Seoul via social media and many online communities and networks. She is also a member of several professional associations, including the International Coach Federation, the Career Management Alliance, and the Association of Career Professionals International. 

Megan is active in community service and donates a percentage of her total income to The Global Fund and to life saving programs around the world fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. She is a member of Kiva.org, or a "Kivan", and supports entrepreneurs in developing countries through small microloans. Currently she is supporting a woman in Samoa to raise kava, and important element in Samoan culture, to support her family. 

When she is not being of service to her clients, Megan enjoys
exploring her expat hometown of Rome, international travel, modern art, independent film, salsa dancing, meditation and a caffè macchiato to start her day.
